  • The new version termed "SMILE Pro" takes SMILE to the next level by making the experience even more comfortable and seamless to the patient.
  • The laser application time in "SMILE Pro" is now only 8 seconds compared to the 22-30 seconds of laser application in the older version of SMILE
  • SMILE Pro also now included cyclotorsion compensation which is a form of eye tracking which makes correction of high cylinder powers even more precise and accurate
  • Uma Eye clinic is the first institution in Tamilnadu to introduce this technology to the benefit of our patients.

Lasik Surgery

People who need to wear glasses to see clearly can have their spectacles taken off and yet have great eyesight. Depending on the patient's age and the refractive error of the glass, many treatment techniques are possible. If a person is over 18 years old and is currently wearing glasses or contact lenses, he or she has the option to forego using them.

Since the glass power often stabilises at the age of 16, this therapy is not performed before the patient is 18 years old. Laser vision correction is the most widely used and popular procedure. In this procedure, the patient's refractive defect is treated by altering the corneal curvature (power of the glass)

You are considered fit for LASIK if you:

  • Are over 18 years of age
  • Have generally healthy eyes
  • Have had stable vision for at least one year

Glaucoma Surgery

The eye is a structure that contains fluid. The fluid inside the eye gives the eye a typical amount of pressure. The eye nerve is harmed by the increase in eye pressure caused by a variety of factors (optic nerve). You have glaucoma.

Glaucoma frequently manifests early on without any symptoms and is a silent disease. Rarely, symptoms like discomfort and redness may manifest. The quiet thief of vision is glaucoma. This will cause a gradual, painless loss of vision over time.

Persons whom are prone to glaucoma

  • Diabetics
  • History of eye trauma
  • People with glaucoma patients in the family
  • People with minus or plus power in the eye

Dry Eye

Tears often cover the eye's surface to keep it moist and comfortable. Dry eyes result from inadequate tears, either in quantity or quality. Gritty, burning, red, and uncomfortable eyes are typical symptoms of dry eyes. Ironically, tearing up is another sign of dry eyes. This happens as a result of the dry eye surface stimulating the nerves to tear as a reflex.

When we blink, the eyelids normally shut, emptying away the old tear film to refill the regular tear film. Additionally, about 30 to 40 glands in the eyelids release oily secretions to maintain the tear film when you blink.
